Podcast

Podcasts are cool. I had a lot of fun playing around with it and recording my children. This is a neat way to record the kids singing a new song or saying a new word so that all of my family and friends can hear it too. The kids also think that it is really neat to listen to themselves. Podcasting also has value in other things also. For example, this link http://www.nytimes.com/ref/multimedia/podcasts.html will take you to the New York Times where you can find information on book reviews, the election, questions and answers, and just about everything else you were looking for. All of the news stations have podcasts now, so you can go to there sites and listen to the news that you may have missed earlier. CNN, for example, has hourly podcasts to keep you up on all of the latest news http://www.cnn.com/services/podcasting/. There are just tons of uses for podcasting, and it is fun!

newyorker.com also has cool free podcasts; their short stories can be heard being read by famous authors (but of course these aren't children's stories). I'm really happy you thought of doing this with your kids!!

It sounds like you had a great time working on this project with your children. I am glad you have been able to intergrate it into your home life as well as your professional life. Thanks for the great ideas, and the helpful websites! It looks like they have some wonderful information.

So true! I too found it to be soooooooooooooo fun to record my little boy. He loved it and it meant that I didn't have to be the one actually ON the video. : )

I also have been using podcasts to record my kids. They have had a lot of fun with it and so have I. Thanks for the links to the news podcasts. I didn't know that news sites ran updated podcasts that requently. That would make it a good current events assignment in a social studies class.
